Hellenic Rescue Team of Attica (HRTA) is a non-governmental, non-profit volunteering association, aiming to organize and conduct Search and Rescue (SAR) Operations, in urban and non-urban environment, the mountain and the sea and to act as a first responder in a disaster crisis.
The Memorandum of Association stipulates that membership and participation in HRTA’s activities is open to all citizens, men and women, regardless of gender.
HRTA provides equal opportunities to all members, regardless of gender, based on the members’ preference, personal skills and knowledges, so as to:
- participate in custom and specialized trainings and SAR exercises
- participate in SAR operations and other operational activities
- to be elected in the management and institutional bodies (Board of Directors, Financial Committee, Disciplinary Committee)
- head the organization’s operational structures
- assume roles and responsibilities
HRTA has a Code of Ethics in place, so as to proclaim and safeguard HRTA’s moral principles, including that all members are treated with respect and merit, no discrimination being made based on the members’ gender.
When, by exception, HRTA acts as an employer for paid employment, HRTA safeguards that no discrimination is made based on gender. Moreover, HRTA ensures that equal opportunities are provided to both men and women, so as to:
- apply as candidates for a position
- be selected for a position
- receive equal remuneration, based on their experience, professional and educational background
- enjoy equal rights and fair treatment
- enjoy work – life balance
